Partnerships Queensland
The way forward for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People
The Queensland Government has a vision for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders to have their cultures affirmed, heritage sustained and the same prospects for health, prosperity and quality of life as other Queenslanders. The Government is committed to achieving this vision by ensuring all levels of government, community, business and non-government sectors work together to meet community needs.
Partnerships Queensland: Future directions framework for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander policy in Queensland 2005-10 is the government's strategic policy framework which brings together all existing Queensland Government initiatives for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders. It will guide all future Queensland Government policies and services affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Partnerships Queensland aims to improve government performance. All Queensland Government departments will be guided by:
- a set of goals and policy objectives - strong families, strong cultures; safe places; healthy living; and skilled and prosperous people and communities
- a new way of doing business based on partnership, community engagement, improved governance, better performing and more accountable service providers, and shared responsibility.
