40th Anniversary 1967 Referendum

On 27 May 1967 a Federal referendum was held and Sunday 27 May 2007 will mark the 40th anniversary of Australia's most successful referendum and a defining event in our nation's history. About the Referendum

History of the 1967 Referendum where Australians voted to acknowledge Indigenous Australians as citizens and gave the Commonwealth Government the power to make laws regarding Indigenous people.
