
For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities to enjoy the opportunities and benefits other Queenslanders experience, they need to be able to participate fully in the mainstream economy. This will have major flow on benefits and help close other gaps in life outcomes.
The Queensland Government's priority is to address the gap in employment outcomes between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.
It supports this goal this through its investment in:
- public services and infrastructure
- enterprise support
- tourism promotion and facilities
- trade and industry programs
- training and employment programs
Targets and progress measures
The Council of Australian Governments and the Queensland Government have set a target under the National Indigenous Reform Agreement to improve the economic situation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
1. Halve the gap in employment outcomes between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians within a decade.
