The restricted area incorporates all public and private places in the Wujal Wujal community as shown in the map (on the right of this page), including all foreshores, internal waterways and roads.

'Bona fide' travellers can get an exemption on the following roads:

  • Bloomfield Road
  • Bloomfield Crossing
  • road known as Douglas Street
  • Rossville-Bloomfield Road
  • the road connecting Douglas Street and the Bloomfield Falls
  • the car park near the Bloomfield Falls
  • the car park at the Wujal Wujal Arts and Cultural Centre

Alcohol restrictions

No alcohol is allowed in the Wujal Wujal Shire including home-brewed alcohol and home-brew equipment.

Penalties

Maximum penalties for possessing alcohol in Wujal Wujal:

  • first offence $37,500
  • second offence $52,500 and/or 6 months imprisonment
  • third offence $75,000 and/or 18 months imprisonment

Vehicles found carrying alcohol in the restricted area may be confiscated.

It is also an offence to attempt to bring alcohol into the restricted area. The maximum penalty is $37,500.

A maximum penalty of $19,000 will apply to offenders who:

  • possess a home-brew kit or a component of a home-brew kit
  • possess equipment or a component of equipment that is being used or has been used to brew alcohol
  • possess home-brew concentrate
  • supply homemade alcohol to another person in Wujal Wujal

These penalties apply to all people living in, travelling through, visiting or working in the restricted area.
